Giving Thanks

It is that time of the year again! As we sit around the food filled table, we will all, most likely, take turns sharing what we are most thankful for this past year. People will be thankful for their family, friends, job, or the feast on the table. This year, however, I suggest that we be thankful for ourselves. Each year the emphasis during the holiday season is centered around "giving". I find this ironic considering society on a whole is giving more of their time and energy into working, taking care of the kids, and doing things for others year round. It is about time you gave thanks to yourself. When was the last time you were thankful for yourself? When was the last time you expressed gratitude to you? Let us be thankful for your body, as it has woken up each morning. Thankful for your immune system that wards off invaders on a daily basis. Thankful for your brain that allows for communication with yourself and others. This holiday season be thankful for all that you are. Take a few moments to revel in the amazement that you are. Thankful for your body's ability to learn, grow and evolve. Thankful for the opportunities you have been given and how it has shaped you into the person you are today. Give your body thanks for enduring the daily stressors (physical, mental, emotional or spiritual). It is time to give thanks to your body's infinite wisdom to self regulate and heal. Give thanks to yourself this Thanksgiving by treating your body to  something special.
